Die EU-Institutionen sollen hier ihre Kr\u00e4fte b\u00fcndeln, um die Schlechterstellung von rund 35 Millionen EU-B\u00fcrgern zu beenden\u201c, so Stefan Hab\u00f6ck, Internationaler Referent von Paneuropa \u00d6sterreich.<\/p>\n<p>Die Schlechterstellung von EU-B\u00fcrgern untereinander d\u00fcrfe keinesfalls akzeptiert werden, zumal sie nicht auf sachlicher Grundlage beruhe. Aber auch aus prinzipiellen \u00dcberlegungen heraus sei es notwendig, sich hier nicht auseinanderdividieren zu lassen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Europa muss verst\u00e4rkt gemeinsam agieren, um geopolitisch mehr Gewicht zu erlangen&#8221;, so Hab\u00f6ck.<\/p>\n<p>Doch auch innerhalb der EU gibt es offene Wunden beim Thema Visaliberalisierung. So haben die Mitgliedsstaaten der Republik Kosovo als einzigem Land am Westbalkan und in Europa generell bisher die versprochene Visaliberalisierung verweigert.<\/p>\n<p>Philipp Jauernik, S\u00fcdosteuropa-Experte von Paneuropa \u00d6sterreich, \u00e4u\u00dfert sein Unverst\u00e4ndnis: \u201eKosovo hat die zahlreichen Auflagen erf\u00fcllt, doch weiterhin versagen manche Mitgliedsstaaten die Visaliberalisierung. Diese Ungleichbehandlung in Europa rei\u00dft tiefe Wunden in der sensiblen Region&#8221;.\u00a0Man habe\u00a0Kosovo wesentlich h\u00f6here Auflage f\u00fcr die Visaliberalisierung gegeben als den anderen L\u00e4ndern\u201c, h\u00e4lt\u00a0Jauernik fest. \u201eDiese sind erf\u00fcllt. Jetzt muss die EU liefern!\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Hintergrund: Im langj\u00e4hrigen Streit um die\u00a0Visumfreiheit f\u00fcr EU-B\u00fcrger bei der Einreise in die USA zieht das Europ\u00e4ische Parlament nun vor den Europ\u00e4ischen Gerichtshof, um die EU-Kommission zum T\u00e4tigwerden in dieser Angelegenheit zu bewegen. Die Visaliberalisierung gegen\u00fcber der Republik Kosovo scheitert hingegen seit Jahren an einer kleinen Handvoll EU-Staaten, die gro\u00dfteils aus innenpolitischen Motiven nicht zustimmen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Fotocredit: \u00a9 Katharina Schiffl | Paneuropa<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Paneuropa demands of discrimination against EU citizens when entering the USA<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>Jauernik\/Hab\u00f6ck: EU should use the renewed transatlantic partnership to end the unequal treatment of four EU states by the USA.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vienna.<\/strong>\u00a0While US citizens can enter the European Union for short stays without a visa, citizens of the four EU countries Croatia, Cyprus, Romania and Bulgaria still require a visa when entering the USA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>This unequal treatment of EU citizens is not acceptable. The EU institutions should pool their strengths here in order to end the disadvantaged situation of almost 35 million EU citizens<\/em>,\u201d said Stefan Hab\u00f6ck, international Advisor for Paneuropa Austria.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Europe must increasingly act together in order to gain more geopolitical weight<\/em>,&#8221; added Hab\u00f6ck.<\/p>\n<p>But even within the EU there are open wounds on the subject of visa liberalization. The member states still refuse to grant the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo the promised visa liberalization \u2013 as only country in the Western Balkans and Europe!<\/p>\n<p>Philipp Jauernik, Southeast Europe expert from Paneuropa Austria, expresses his lack of understanding: \u201c<em>Kosovo has fulfilled the numerous requirements, but some member states are still failing to liberalize visas. This unequal treatment in Europe tears deep wounds in the sensitive region<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Kosovo has been given considerably higher requirements for visa liberalization than the other countries,<\/em>&#8221; Jauernik notes. &#8220;<em>These have been met.
