<\/p>\n

Erfreut zeigt sich die Paneuropabewegung \u00d6sterreich \u00fcber den aktuellen Vorsto\u00df von neun EU-Staaten, darunter \u00d6sterreich, der wichtigen Region S\u00fcdosteuropa auf EU-Ebene wieder mehr Aufmerksamkeit zu widmen.\u00a0Die Au\u00dfenminister von \u00d6sterreich, Kroatien, Tschechien, Deutschland, Griechenland, Irland, Rum\u00e4nien, Slowakei und Slowenien fordern in einem Brief an den Hohen Au\u00dfenbeauftragten Josep Borrell, eine \u201estrategische Diskussion\u201c \u00fcber die L\u00e4nder des Westbalkans und ihre (EU-)Perspektiven zu f\u00fchren. Aus Sicht der Paneuropabewegung \u00d6sterreich ist es h\u00f6chste Zeit, hier wesentlich aktiver zu werden.<\/p>\n

Das Auftreten Europas als geopolitischer Akteur verlangt aus Sicht von Philipp Jauernik, S\u00fcdosteuropa-Experte von Paneuropa \u00d6sterreich, nach einer mutigen politischen Offensive Europas: \u201eViele zu lange schon wurden die sogenannten Westbalkanl\u00e4nder immer wieder mit Versprechungen vertr\u00f6stet. Hier braucht es eine offensive Politik der EU, um Stabilit\u00e4t in diese f\u00fcr Europa strategisch sehr wichtige Region zu exportieren<\/em>.\u201c\u00a0Die l\u00e4ngst versprochene Visaliberalisierung f\u00fcr die B\u00fcrger des Kosovo geh\u00f6re genauso zu einer solchen Politik wie eine Beitrittsperspektive f\u00fcr die Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201eJe st\u00e4rker der Druck der EU, desto h\u00f6her auch der Druck der Bev\u00f6lkerung dieser L\u00e4nder auf ihre Regierungen, die notwendigen Reformschritte \u2013 um Rechtsstaatlichkeit und Kampf gegen die Korruption zu nennen \u2013 durchzusetzen<\/em>\u201c, ist Stefan Hab\u00f6ck, Internationaler Referent von Paneuropa \u00d6sterreich, \u00fcberzeugt.<\/p>\n

Die Paneuropabewegung \u00d6sterreich fordert, dass die EU-Staaten ihre geistige und politische Blockadehaltung gegen\u00fcber den Menschen des Westbalkans aufgeben. Aktuell blockiert Bulgarien den Beginn der Verhandlungen mit Nordmazedonien (und damit auch Albanien) und f\u00fcnf Staaten (darunter Spanien) erkennen aus rein innenpolitischen Motiven heraus noch immer nicht die Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit der Republik Kosovo an.<\/p>\n
