Am 19. August 1989 wurde beim Paneurop\u00e4ischen Picknick an der \u00f6sterreichisch-ungarischen Grenze das erste Loch in den Eisernen Vorhang gerissen. Es war der Anfang vom Ende der Teilung Europas. Die europ\u00e4ische Einigung wurde dadurch f\u00fcr die L\u00e4nder Mitteleuropas m\u00f6glich. Es war aber auch ein klares Signal gegen den russischen Imperialismus. Diese Botschaft scheint bei einigen L\u00e4ndern heute verloren zu sein. 19. August 1989 – beim \u201ePaneurop\u00e4ischen Picknick\u201c an der \u00f6sterreichisch-ungarischen Grenze fliehen 661 B\u00fcrger der fr\u00fcheren DDR in die Freiheit.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Die Neue Z\u00fcrcher Zeitung meinte damals, es sei wohl ein Treppenwitz der Geschichte, dass \u00d6sterreich und Ungarn die Preu\u00dfen in die Freiheit f\u00fchre. Das Picknick ist das erste gro\u00dfe Loch im Eisernen Vorhang, der nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg Europa geteilt hat: in den russisch-sowjetisch besetzten Osten und in den freien Westen. Ungarn war das erste Land im damaligen Ostblock, das \u2013 in Kenntnis der \u00f6konomischen Lage \u2013 beschlossen hatte, den Eisernen Vorhang abzubauen. Seine Reparatur w\u00e4re zu teuer gewesen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Damit war der Weg in das Ende der Teilung Europas vorgezeichnet. Im November 1989 fiel die Berliner Mauer. Das geteilte Deutschland konnte wiedervereinigt werden. Schlie\u00dflich folgte 1991 die Aufl\u00f6sung des Warschauer Paktes und der Sowjetunion. Die baltischen Staaten konnten ihre Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit, die sie als Folge des Hitler-Stalin Paktes verloren hatten, wieder erlangen. Die Staaten, die ihre Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit von Moskau erreichen konnten suchten den Weg in die NATO, um k\u00fcnftig sicher vor milit\u00e4rischen Angriffen des imperialistischen Russland zu sein, und sie suchten den Weg in die Europ\u00e4ische Union, weil sie Marktwirtschaft statt sozialistischer Planwirtschaft, sowie Demokratie und Rechtsstaatlichkeit statt Despotie und Faustrecht anstrebten.<\/span><\/p>\n

Das Ende der Teilung Europas war aber nicht nur ein Sieg des freien Westens \u00fcber die Despotie des Ostens, sondern auch ein vorl\u00e4ufiger Sieg \u00fcber den Moskauer Imperialismus mit seinen gro\u00dfrussischen Ambitionen, egal unter welchem ideologischen Mantel sie propagiert wurden. Russland musste sein Kolonialtruppen aus Mitteleuropa zur\u00fcckziehen. Dieses Ende der Kolonialherrschaft Russlands \u00fcber die H\u00e4lfte Europas, der Abzug der russischen Soldateska wurde in allen L\u00e4ndern Mitteleuropas, die nun ihre Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit erlangt hatten, gefeiert. Ganz besonders auch in jenem Land, das als erstes den Eisernen Vorhang abgebaut hatte, und das sich heute noch stolz an den Aufstand von 1956 gegen die Sowjetunion erinnert.<\/span><\/p>\n

34 Jahre sp\u00e4ter ist der russische Imperialismus, der Traum eines Moskauer Despotenregimes von einem neuen russischen Gro\u00dfreich, wieder Realit\u00e4t in Europa. Russische Truppen versuchen gerade jenes westliche Nachbarland zu vernichten, dem der Weg in die EU und in die NATO bisher nicht offen stand. T\u00e4glich sterben in der Ukraine Menschen, weil f\u00fcr den Despoten in Moskau das Ende der Sowjetunion die gr\u00f6\u00dfte geopolitischen Katastrophe des 20. Jahrhunderts war, und weil dieser Despot mit seinen Propagandisten im imperialistischen Wahn davon tr\u00e4umt Europa – oder zumindest den \u00f6stlichen Teil -wieder unter seine Kontrolle zu bringen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Auf blutige Art und Weise mussten die Menschen in Europa die Lektion lernen, dass die 1989 aufgebl\u00fchte Vorstellung, Krieg sei in Europa \u00fcberwunden, nur eine Illusion war. Russland ist das letzte Kolonialreich Europas, das seine Kolonien im Osten nach wie vor unter Kontrolle h\u00e4lt, und versucht, einstige Kolonien im Westen wieder unter seine Kontrolle zu bringen. Geeint haben sich die Regierungen der freien europ\u00e4ischen L\u00e4nder auf die Seite der Ukraine gestellt, bereit, Kyiv darin zu unterst\u00fctzen, die B\u00fcrger der Ukraine und das eigene Land von den Kolonialtruppen zu befreien.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nur ein EU- und Nato-Land in Europa hat offenbar \u00fcberhaupt kein Problem damit, mit dem Ruf nach einem sofortigen Waffenstillstand zu akzeptieren, dass eines seiner Nachbarl\u00e4nder wieder (zumindest teilweise) von einer m\u00f6rderischen Kolonialarmee besetzt bleibt. Es ist wohl ein besonders b\u00f6sartiger Treppenwitz der Geschichte, dass der Ministerpr\u00e4sident dieses Landes 1989 zu jenen geh\u00f6rte, die das Ende der russischen Kolonialtruppen in Budapest ganz besonders gefeiert haben.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>A MESSAGE FROM THE PAN-EUROPEAN PICNIC<\/b>
\n<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

19 August 1989 – at the “Pan-European Picnic” on the Austro-Hungarian border, 661 citizens of the so-called GDR fled to freedom.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Neue Z\u00fcrcher Zeitung said at the time that it was probably a staircase joke of history that Austria and Hungary were leading the Prussians to freedom. The picnic is the first big hole in the Iron Curtain that divided Europe after the Second World War: into the Russian-Soviet occupied East and the free West. Hungary was the first country in the then Eastern Bloc that – knowing the economic situation – decided to dismantle the Iron Curtain. It would have been too expensive to repair.<\/span><\/p>\n

This paved the way for the end of the division of Europe. In November 1989, the Berlin Wall fell. The divided Germany could be reunited. Finally, in 1991, the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union were dissolved. The Baltic states were able to regain the independence they had lost as a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact. The states that were able to achieve their independence from Moscow sought the way into NATO in order to be safe from military attacks by imperialist Russia in the future, and they sought the way into the European Union because they wanted a market economy instead of a socialist planned economy, as well as democracy and the rule of law instead of despotism and the law of the jungle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The end of the division of Europe, however, was not only a victory of the free West over the despotism of the East, but also a temporary victory over Moscow imperialism with its Great Russian ambitions, no matter under what ideological cloak they were propagated. Russia had to withdraw its colonial troops from Central Europe. This end of Russia’s colonial rule over half of Europe, the withdrawal of the Russian soldiery, was celebrated in all the countries of Central Europe that had now gained their independence. Especially in the country that was the first to dismantle the Iron Curtain and that still proudly remembers the 1956 uprising against the Soviet Union.<\/span>
\n34 years later, Russian imperialism, the dream of a Moscow despot regime of a new Russian empire, is once again a reality in Europe. Russian troops are trying to destroy that neighbouring country to the west, which until now had no way into the EU and NATO. People are dying daily in Ukraine because for the despot in Moscow the end of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century, and because this despot, with his propagandists, dreams in an imperialist frenzy of bringing Europe – or at least the eastern part – back under his control.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a bloody way, the people of Europe had to learn the lesson that the idea that war had been overcome in Europe, which blossomed in 1989, was only an illusion. Russia is the last colonial empire in Europe, still in control of its colonies in the East, and is trying to bring former colonies in the West back under its control. United, the governments of the free European countries have sided with Ukraine, ready to support Kyiv in freeing Ukraine’s citizens and their own country from colonial forces.<\/span>

\n<\/b>Only one EU and Nato country in Europe seems to have no problem at all in accepting, with a call for an immediate ceasefire, that one of its neighbouring countries will again remain (at least partially) occupied by a murderous colonial army. It is probably a particularly vicious staircase joke of history that the prime minister of this country was among those who particularly celebrated the end of the Russian colonial troops in Budapest in 1989.
