<\/p>\n

One might occasionally get the impression that the statements made by many European politicians on 24 February 2022 (the start of Russia’s invasion of annihilation against Ukraine)\u2014that Ukraine would be supported in its fight for freedom until the very end\u2014were based on the assumption that the tyrant from Moscow (yet a friend to many Western politicians) would have ended the war with a clear victory within a week at the latest. Then, everyone would have returned to business as usual. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Ukrainians did not play along. Although the West has only sent hesitant aid, and still far too little of it, the Ukrainians have proven what a fight for freedom means. They defended Kyiv, they drove the Russians out of parts of the country again, they drove the Russian Black Sea Fleet back into Russian ports without a navy, and sank many ships. They shot down aircraft and continue to restrict the operational base of the Russian air force. They have repeatedly carried out precision strikes deep into Russian territory, damaging or destroying critical war infrastructure. <\/span><\/p>\n

Certainly, they had to cede some further territories on the ground to the Russian terror army. Russia, however, paid a high price in soldiers and equipment for this. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Ukrainians achieved this with courage and innovation. While discussions about the arms industry are still ongoing in the EU, Ukraine is creating facts. The West must continue to support Ukraine; if it does not, Putin will take over Europe. Not even Orb\u00e1n wants that. This makes it clear that Ukraine will win this war, even if it lasts for several more years. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ukraine will then be a country that attracts enormous investments to achieve reconstruction. It will have an army whose capabilities are in demand worldwide, and a functioning, innovative arms industry unhampered by bureaucracy. <\/span><\/p>\n

Anyone who is not yet on Ukraine’s side today, because they do not stand for freedom, the rule of law, etc., should join their side out of opportunism. For the Ukrainians will remember who supported them. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
