Most recently, the CEO of Deutsche Bank, John Cryan, called for an end to cash. The SPD then followed suit by proposing an upper limit for cash payments.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCash is a printed piece of freedom; to want to abolish this freedom is the next step towards a totalitarian state!\u201d warns Karl von Habsburg, President of the Paneuropa Movement Austria.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Upper limits for cash transactions have already been introduced in some European countries; among others, France and Italy only permit cash transactions up to \u20ac3,000. Germany is now discussing an upper limit of \u20ac5,000. <\/p>\n<p>The primary argument is the fight against terrorist financing and the black market. However, it naturally also affects citizens. \u201cThe proposed figures are arbitrarily named amounts and can, of course, also be reduced to \u20ac1,000 or \u20ac500,\u201d explains Habsburg, adding that this will inevitably lead to a cash ban.<br \/>\nThe Paneuropa Movement Austria rejects these restrictions on individual freedom. Without cash, citizens would no longer have any way to purchase a product without it being digitally traceable. The transparent individual would become a reality. The state would have full control over all purchasing habits of its citizens. It would no longer be possible to hold savings in cash.      <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis development, restricting all citizens\u2019 freedoms in the name of combating terrorism, is extremely dangerous and should alarm civil society!\u201d emphasises Karl von Habsburg.<\/p>\n<h3>Information:<\/h3>\n<p>The Paneuropa Union is the oldest European unification movement, founded in 1922 by Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi. Paneuropa advocates for a united Europe, freedom, family, and subsidiarity.
