“With the passing of Dr. Erhard Busek, the peoples of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, as well as a united Europe, lose a loyal friend,” explains Karl von Habsburg, President of the Paneuropa Movement Austria, on the death of former Vice-Chancellor Dr. Erhard Busek.

Both as a Federal Minister and later as Chairman of his Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe and Coordinator for the Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe, Dr. Erhard Busek consistently and genuinely championed a strong Europe and the integration of people in Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe into a free, democratic Europe.

He also supported a free, sovereign Ukraine until the very end and warned against any weakening of Europe.

The Paneuropa Movement Austria will always cherish the honourable memory of Dr. Erhard Busek for his contributions to Europe.
