Trinity
In Austria, the Holy Trinity has been replaced by the political trinity of neutrality, anti-gene, and anti-nuclear. By Rainhard Kloucek
Austria was once a Catholic country. When someone spoke of the Trinity, they meant the Holy Trinity, i.e., the unity of God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Even politicians once knew what this meant.
However, Catholic faith has largely evaporated; the Holy Trinity has been replaced by the substitute religion of the political trinity. This consists of the substitute gods of neutrality, anti-gene, and anti-nuclear. Anyone who questions one of these tenets of faith of the Austrian state religion must expect political excommunication.
It was therefore only logical that an outcry from all relevant parties in the domestic political scene was inevitable when the EU Commission published a paper at the turn of the year, in which nuclear power was mentioned as a contribution to achieving the so-called climate targets. In Austria, people have become so entrenched in an anti-stance on the nuclear issue that they ignore all facts. Of course, nuclear power is also used in Austria; it is simply imported via the European power grid. If the goals of electromobility are actually to be achieved, then even more nuclear power will probably be needed. For wind and sun cannot guarantee a reliable supply for electric cars, etc.
The rest of the world (perhaps with the exception of Germany) continues to rely on nuclear power. Practically all industrialised countries that understand the need for energy are expanding nuclear power and working on new and better nuclear power plants. China is apparently already bringing nuclear fusion to series production readiness.
The EU Commission has apparently recognised (probably also due to pressure from some member states) that scientific curiosity is more intelligent than the ideological rigid adherence to tenets of faith. This will not bring about a change of mind in Austria’s political landscape. For anyone who dares to challenge it faces the pyre.
Who is surprised that with so much rejection of science, people are massively afraid of vaccination?
