With Paul Rübig, a proven research expert joins the EIT Governing Board. Rübig, an entrepreneur from Wels, was a Member of the European Parliament from 1996 to 2019, serving as research spokesperson, chairman of STOA (the Scientific Committee of the European Parliament), and a member of the Committee on Research.
As the European Parliament’s negotiator for the EU budget, he advocated for increasing the research budget and the continuous development of the EU research programme Horizon Europe.
Rübig, a Paneuropean, was Vice-President of the Paneuropa Movement Austria and, until 2018, Chairman of the Paneuropa Working Group of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
Karl von Habsburg, President of the Paneuropa Movement Austria, extends his sincere congratulations: “It is a huge gain for the EIT that Paul Rübig is contributing his expertise and experience. This is also good news for Europe as a whole, considering how vital research and innovation are for a successful Europe.”
