On Tuesday, the first “National Prayer Breakfast” took place in Vienna at the Austrian Parliament. Our President Karl von Habsburg was invited as a speaker and emphasised in his address that we must show courage and speak more about our Christian value system.

“Freedom is also an integral part of this value system!” Karl von Habsburg affirmed. On the eve of the event, he met some of the politicians who had travelled from all over the world for an exchange of ideas on common values, the roots of Europe, and how to shape the future based on these.

The idea of the Prayer Breakfast dates back to an initiative by Pope John XXIII after the Second World War. In Austria, more than 200 people gathered, including parliamentarians, ministers, and ambassadors from 27 states.
