The unipolar world of the 20th century is over. We are experiencing coalition governments where there used to be majority governments. The same applies to geopolitics. Today, Europe can speak on equal terms with the USA, Russia, China, or Japan – but only if we do not allow ourselves to be divided.

We need a strong European coalition to protect our own interests.
We need a strong, pan-European voice.
We need a functioning Europe with prospects for the future.

Ukraine is a key factor in this. Without Ukraine (a thoroughly European country making great progress), a part of Europe’s soul, its history, would be missing. Kyiv’s Rus contributed too much to European high culture for us to forget it.

(From Karl von Habsburg’s speech at the founding ceremony in the Great Hall of the Diplomatic Academy in Kyiv.)
