At today’s Interpol General Assembly in Dubai, Kosovo narrowly missed the required two-thirds majority for admission to the organisation. As a result, this small European nation, under pressure from EU candidate Serbia, continues to be denied its rightful place within Interpol.

“The sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo must finally be recognised by all international organisations,” demands Rainhard Kloucek, Secretary General of the Paneuropa Movement Austria.

Just three years ago, Serbia blocked Kosovo’s admission to UNESCO.

“Cooperation on security and policing matters is a priority for Europe. This blockade continues to undermine efficient, cross-border crime fighting,” fears Stefan Haböck, International Officer for Paneuropa Austria.
