Statement by the Paneuropa Movement Austria on Russia’s war of annihilation against Ukraine, adopted at the General Assembly on 25 March 2022 in Wels. (English version below)
The Paneuropa Movement Austria strongly condemns Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. This is done with full admiration for the Ukrainians who are bravely and skilfully defending their homeland. The Paneuropa Movement Austria thanks the Ukrainians for defending not only their own freedom but also the freedom of Europe through their defensive struggle against Russia.
The Paneuropa Movement Austria, in order to support Ukraine as an independent European country,
- welcomes the wave of aid that has swept across Europe in support of Ukraine. This includes the reception of refugees as well as work permits for Ukrainians in the EU and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine
- encourages the countries of the European Union and the Western community of values to increase their support for the Ukrainian defence forces with all necessary military equipment
- demands from Russia the immediate cessation of hostilities, a withdrawal from Ukraine to the 1991 borders, as well as Russian reparations to Ukraine to repair the damage caused and compensation for the relatives of war victims
- calls on the UN to establish protection zones for civilians in Ukraine
- calls on the Western community of values to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, primarily to protect humanitarian corridors from further attacks
- calls on the Western community of values to initiate proceedings before the International Criminal Court against Vladimir Putin and the representatives of his government responsible for the war of aggression alongside him
- reiterates the demand made for years to immediately open an EU accession perspective for Ukraine, and in this context calls on European Union politicians to finally follow up fine words with clear actions.
