In the course of the Vienna state and municipal elections, the Federal Chairman of the Paneuropean Youth Austria, Philipp Jauernik, won a seat on the district council of Vienna’s 1st district, Wien-Innere Stadt.

Philipp Jauernik stood for the ÖVP as part of the team of District Chairman Markus Figl, which won 17 seats. One of these is now held by a long-standing Paneuropean.

After studying history and political science at the University of Vienna, Philipp Jauernik completed an expert course on EU politics at CIFE as well as courses in journalism and media management at the Friedrich Funder Institute.

Even during his studies, he began his career in business journalism and subsequently worked in the PR and communications industry. Simultaneously, he spent six years as an independent producer of series and special art-historical formats at Radio Klassik Stephansdom in Vienna.

He later became an advisor on South-Eastern European affairs and a press spokesperson at the European Parliament in Brussels, before returning to Vienna to work in the infrastructure, transport, resources, and energy department of the Federation of Austrian Industries. Since November, Jauernik has been developing the European Relations department for the Fit4Internet initiative and the Alliance for Digital Skills and Jobs (ADSB) in Austria, which is part of the European Commission’s Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition (DSJC).

Philipp Jauernik has been a member of the Presidium of the Paneuropean Movement Austria since 2013 and has served as Federal Chairman of the Paneuropean Youth Austria since 2016. He is the editorial lead responsible for the Paneuropa Podcast, which was established this year.

Furthermore, he serves as editor-in-chief of the magazine “Couleur” (circulation 25,000) and is a member of the board of the Austrian-Kosovar Friendship Society. He regularly publishes essays, articles, and guest commentaries in publications including the Wiener Zeitung, the magazine “Fazit”, Academia, and “Klassik” magazine.

In the Vienna-Innere Stadt district council, Philipp Jauernik is a member of the Security and Civil Protection Commission as well as the Environment Committee.
