European Parliament Approves Visa Liberalisation for Kosovo – Now the States Must Act!

Visa requirement for Kosovo set to be lifted soon – now the Interior Ministers must act.

The Paneuropa Movement Austria is very pleased with the European Parliament’s decision for EU visa liberalisation for the Republic of Kosovo.

“The abolition of the visa requirement for Kosovars is finally imminent. This would fulfil a long-standing demand of the Paneuropa Movement,” says Rainhard Kloucek, Secretary General of the Paneuropa Movement Austria.

After the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg approved the positive report by MEP Tanja Fajon, it is now up to the member states – i.e., the Council – to swiftly make the proposal a reality.

“It is crucial that the remaining five EU states finally recognise Kosovo’s independence,” emphasises Stefan Haböck, International Officer of the Paneuropa Movement Austria.

The Republic of Kosovo has met the European Union’s conditions and can now rely on the EU member states to keep their word.

Note: The Paneuropa Union is the oldest European unification movement. Founded in Vienna in 1922, it comprises 22 member organisations in 26 European states.
